Post Your Election Day Experiences Here!
Gallery Place/Penn Quarter residents voted in a number of different locations today. This blogger voted at the MLK Library and things went very smoothly even though there was only one electronic voting machine (compared to 10+ paper voting machines). In contrast to the election excitement, roaming the MLK library to find the voting room evoked a different emotion – that lower floor is a stuffy maze.

My voting experience was just fine. I went around 8:15 am this morning and it was essentially deserted. I suppose people think the results were decided a few months ago and decided not to turn out. However, I would be interested to know where people live in relation to where they are sent to vote. I live at 400 Mass Ave. and voted on 1st St., NE. I think the name of the school was Terrell.
after listening to a discussion about the flaws in electronic voting I opted for the paper ballot. A machine counts it, there is a physical record, and its so much fun to slide it in the scanner! I’m glad DC provide us with choice. voted this morn at the MLK dungeon…
I went to MLK at 3:00. Only voter there. Went electronic — the software sucks an gives no info on how to change your vote (you just press the candidate you want and it will switch). The basement is depressing — as much as I favor saving the building (I live across from it and like the fact that it is a a Van Der Rohe), it needs a complete overhaul.

I had to wake up early and trek all the way to Capitol Hill NE to vote. We should really get our act together and get Penn Quarter in the same ward and district as Chinatown. This is ridiculous and it splits our political power.
As for the voting experience, the poll worker had some trouble with the alphabet, but all in all, it was ok. I wasn’t impressed with the school board candidates, so I just wrote in Andrian Fenty in anticipation of a school board takeover.
