Navy Memorial Fountain Nears Winter Hibernation

Posted by gpliving
September 2, 2011

As our readers may have gathered, we love to talk about the US Navy Memorial fountain (701 Penn Ave NW).  Given its proximity to a fair amount of PQ homes, and the fact that we usually walk past it on our way to the Washington Mall, the landmark really feels like our neighborhood fountain. We’ve posted [...]

We strolled by District of Pi today to confirm that the restaurant has indeed opened!  The interior space is very nice and preserves many historical aspects of the original building.  Be sure to explore the dining room towards the rear of the restaurant and you might be surprised to find yourself outside of the original [...]

Situated on the corner of 8th & E St NW, Riot Act Comedy Theater brings the world of stand-up comedy to Penn Quarter.  We were fortunate to be able to enjoy a sneak preview of the space last night and can say that the two-story, 13,000 sq ft space (including 330 seat performance space and 2 [...]

Penn Quarter Offices Attracting Protests

Posted by gpliving
August 5, 2011

Photo credit: zombieite, a protest in NYC In the past, protests in the District against corporate or government offices were mostly limited to areas west (K Street) or south (National Mall) of Penn Quarter.  But now that Penn Quarter is finding itself home to an increasing number of lobbying offices, it seems as though Penn Quarter residents [...]
