Banners From The Fringe At WDCEP

Posted by gpliving
July 14, 2006

The Capital Fringe Festival starts next Thursday (July 20), and the folks at the DC Economic Partnership are getting the party started next week (Exhibit runs M-F, 9am-5pm, July 20th-30th) at 1495 F St, NW. Here’s more info:

Washington, DC- Beginning Tuesday, July 18, 2006, the offices of the Washington, DC Economic Partnership will be transformed into an art gallery as “Banners from the Fringe” go on display.

The innovative works of art are the brain child of local artists, Dana Ellyn and Matt Sesow. The unique pieces will hang from the ceilings of the WDCEP conference room and will be displayed in the lobby until Monday, July 31st. The paintings feature decorative, emotional and figurative topics and make use of once discarded street pole banners that once hung throughout the Downtown business improvement district.

The “Banners from the Fringe” exhibit is part of DC’s inaugural Capital Fringe Festival. This new, energetic and highly entertaining performing arts event will take place throughout the Downtown from July 20 – 30. Performance venues include the 6th & I Street Historic Synagogue, Calvary Baptist Church and the Goethe-Institut and several more.

Thanks to Jay for the info
