Cribs XVIVIX: We Like It On Top, Version Deux
All we can say is wow! We’ve visited some amazing cribs in downtown DC and our beloved Penn Quarter but this penthouse unit at The Ventana definitely ranks in the top five condos we’ve seen. Today’s gem is Unit 905 at 912 F Street NW and what do we like about it? It’s one of the biggest condos downtown, the space lends itself to great entertaining both inside and out, the private roof deck commands fantastic views of F Street, and it comes with a dedicated parking spot. Two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, walls of glass, and the typical granite countertops found in newer downtown condos round out the space. We’ve been on the top floor of another for-sale crib before and we’re still liking being on top!
The MLS number is DC7491960, the list price is $1.495M, the interior space lists at 2,373 square feet, and the condo fee is $1334 per month. That’s $630 per square foot on the retail price and 56.22 cents per square foot per month on the condo fee.

Our Cribs post series explores homes for sale or rent worth pointing out in the downtown DC area. Although the series usually focuses on the core part of downtown which means pointing out condos, we may occasionally stray to adjacent neighborhoods where fee simple houses or commercial properties are for sale.
Pho DC Now Open! 608 H St NW
Thanks to Asanga and Cheryl for letting us know that PHO DC is now open! It is located at 608 H St NW and had its soft opening this past Thursday night. The food is reportedly very good, but the restaurant is still working out the usual kinks of stocking up the bar and service awkwardness. Photo credit goes to Asanga.
Wagamama Retail Frustration May Be Resolved!
The Internationalist spoke with Wagamama’s marketing director and, while none of this is official, it seems that Wagamama is once again interested in opening up in Penn Quarter. The evidence lies in the fact that the for lease signs are down from the storefront. There is another teaser that Wagamama could be ready to open in mid-2011 and that they would be in touch with the Internationalist soon.

Hill Country Signage Down, But Work Continues
Ed. Note (March 10): Hill Country opening date story is here.
Thanks to a couple of tips from Penn Quarter Living readers, we went to investigate what was going on with the future Hill Country BBQ restaurant site. We’re happy to report that, as of this morning, workers were huddled around a table with laptops planning their next moves. We weren’t able to snag a conversation with a worker, but judging from our previous Hill Country BBQ post, the signage seemed to have difficulty sticking to the makeshift facade (note the peeling corners). Perhaps the old signs were taken down before they peeled completely off the facade?
