Ping Pong Dim Sum DC Opens Today (900 7th St NW)
Since June of 2009, we’ve watched the Washington DC incarnation of Ping Pong Dim Sum (900 7th Street NW) go from an empty space to an alcohol application to a fully built out restaurant. This United Kingdom based dumpling restaurant makes its DC area debut in the Penn Quarter today at 11:30 am joining Nando’s and Vapiano as the latest import to open in the neighborhood. The opening of Ping Pong now extends 7th Street’s “restaurant row” above I (Eye) Street NW and you can follow this location’s happenings via their Twitter page. The sample menus below will give you a feel for the cuisine and if you dine there, let us know what you think of the DC area’s newest Asian themed culinary stop.

Clyde’s Alley Bar Opens Today *Updated*
Thanks to Cheryl for the pointer to this post at The 42, which references this WaBizJo article.
The recently closed-to-be-renovated Clyde’s On The Walk (approx. 701 7th St NW) will become Alley Bar (a sports bar) and it opens today at 6pm, just in time for tonight’s Caps game at the Verizon Center located just steps away. It is sure to be a scene, so we’ll be sure to update this post with pics tonight!
Update: See our Twitter feed for up to date pics or view the Recent Tweets sidebar box to the right of this post!
A Bowed Building
We love the nice decorative touches this time of year because it makes the neighborhood look festive! This is the 7th Street NW entrance to 701 Penn Ave NW and it’s all bowed (or is that beaued) up!
FrozenYo? *UPDATED*
12/11/2009 Update: An anonymous reader tells us that the new shop will be from the same people who own this Chevy Chase frozen yogurt store. A self serve yogurt shop that charges by weight. We had frozen yogurt from a similar store in Sacramento, CA earlier this year. It was good, lots of fun toppings to choose from. The store is expected to open in four weeks. Thanks Anon!
1006 F st NW has been being remodeled since early October. We’ve wondered what was going to come of this spot as there is a sign for Adamstein & Demetriou Architects in the window. On Monday we caught the above sign taped to the front door which reads:
FrozenYo Interviews Will Continue Wednesday 9 am – 1 pm.
FrozenYo? We instantly though of Frozen Yogurt and ran several internet searches. None of them produced reliable results for any chain or business by that name. A search of the DC corporate database however did get a hit on FrozenYo LLC which was registered as a DC LLC on 10/0/2009. DC doesn’t make any of the LLC filings available online though, so we were unable to dig any deeper than the name and registered agent.
A search of the DC permits database for that property shows a record for a permit filed 11/13/2009. The updates associated with this property online appear to back up that this would be some type of food service establishment.
That’s all we know. Anyone have any inside information on FrozenYo? Is our guess of another PQ frozen yogurt restaurant correct?
