DC Link Roundup: Heard In The ‘Hood *updated*
EVENING UPDATE: WaPo’s Reliable Source does some fact checking on the Real World house in Dupont. Filming begins later this month. [WaPo]
Here’s what we’re reading on neighborhood websites around DC…
Dupont – Say it ain’t so…MTV’s The Real World is 99 and 44/100 percent probably coming to DC and the house is probably likely in Dupont. It’s one of the worst kept secrets in the DC neighborhood blogosphere. Who will end up being DC’s incarnation of Puck? [The Heights Life (rated R for language)] and [Borderstan] and [Wonkette (also rated R for language)]
Dupont (again) – Oh…and there’s a blog that has been set up to track goings on at the Real World house. [The Anti-Real World DC]
Downtown – Core downtown will get an educational kick in the pants with New York University’s construction of the NYU-DC Center on L Street. [DC MUD (Metro Urban Diary)]
Congress Heights – Sort of a no holds barred steel cage blog match going on versus an (ostensible) neighborhood nusiance business. [Congress Heights on the Rise (link 1)] and [Congress Heights on the Rise (link 2)] and [Congress Heights on the Rise (link 3)]
Shaw – More news on the convention center hotels planned for construction in the 9th Street zone. No financing available in the private markets translates into an ask of the DC City Council for public financing. Won’t filling a DC hotel with tourists and conventioneers be easier than filling Nats Park with fans? We think so. [RenewShaw]
These Displays Would Make Rhoda Morgenstern Proud
Looking for a local designer to help with your space in PQ? Stop by Weschler’s where you can get examples of the design work of ten different designers over the next couple of months. The first example went up this past Thursday (we love the retro adventure/travel look), and the window display will change weekly. Weschler’s did the same thing last year and we loved most of the designs, which appear to use items available at the usual weekly auctions.
Try to remember to make the 900 block of E street part of your weekly excursions to check out the latest window displays. You never know, maybe you’ll be hiring one of the designers to redo your downtown pad.
