It might as well have been a weeknight on NBC (America’s Got Talent) when we caught these dueling downtown drummers within earshot of each other one weekend. Shirtless drummer…solid rock four-four punctuated by an occasional jazz rhythm – check. Bucket drummer…go-go beat – check. Audience…walking around on the street – check. All that was missing were Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and David Hasselhoff.

Maybe U2 will set up above SpyNaco Plaza (anyone have a better name for our PQ town square?) and shoot a Where The Streets Have No Name Remix video from the National Portrait Gallery porch overlooking F Street. Heck, an impromptu Fall Out Boy, LL Cool J or Nickelback show would do just fine. Any promoters out there listening? Or at least The ‘Hoff?

Is Asia Nine about to join the ranks of PQ restaurants with outside seating? We caught workers unloading these chairs in the above photo from a pickup. These chairs sure look like outside seats to us. Just in time for the dog days of Summer!
Cribs IX: Gallery Place Skybox
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Cribworthy condo we could profile and after some recent searching, we found one.
We’re heading to the heart of the action, the Gallery Place condo at 777 7th Street, NW, to look at a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom perch on top of the city, a skybox if you will. We haven’t seen this floorplan, Apt. 1134, listed for resale before and what caught our attention are the three balconies as well as three exposures (north, west and east) making for a light filled nest. DC6813908 also has a spacious 26 foot long living room/dining room combo and a 17 foot entry foyer. Nice!
The list price is $699K, the condo fee $1241/month and the taxes about $480/month. The square footage clocks in at 1316 making the price $531/square foot and the condo fee 94 cents/square foot/month if you’re comparing costs. We noticed a small error in the original MLS listing as it indicates PN Hoffman as the developer when it was actually Akridge and Western Development. Oops! Maybe the MLS elves will correct that factoid.

Asian Spice Gets Exterior Signage, Now Hiring (719 H St NW)
Asian Spice sits at the NE corner of H St & 8th St NW. Even though the main entrance is on H St, this restaurant has a considerable amount of frontage on 8th St. Additionally, the sidewalk on the 8th St side is very wide – we’ll be expecting to see a sidewalk seating license application soon!
