We wrote about the closing of Chop Sticks restaurant at 717-719 H St NW. Renovations were to be performed, and from the details of the building permits, it looked like a restaurant would reoccupy the space once finished. Flash forward one year, and we announce a soon-to-be-open restaurant named “Asian Spice.” Sounds like it will be a family-owned Thai restaurant, but your guess is as good as our’s! Does anyone recognize the logo?

We asked our reader community “After the Newseum opens April 11, when will you visit?” Those who did not like the $20 price tag made their presence known by pushing the “Never – it’s too expensive” answer to the top. Here are the results from the most recent poll:

Avoiding The Next Superfund Site
DC’s next annual spring Household Hazardous Waste and E-Cycling Collection will be held on Saturday, April 26, 9 am to 3 pm at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre parking lot at 16th and Kennedy Streets, NW.
The website lists items they accept, as well as those which you cannot drop off. Most notable in the items you cannot drop off are propane tanks, anyone know where you can recycle these? I would think campers (and illegal condo bar-b-que-ers) would need to recycle those small propane tanks somewhere. I asked at Logan Hardware but they didn’t offer recycling, and we’re not sure who else might.
Also worth noting about e-cycling: “To help protect against identity theft, computers and hard drives brought to the event will be wiped clean three times using US Department of Defense (DoD) high-level security wiping procedures.”
5th And Eye Public Meeting Scheduled
Mark your calendars because a DC Government public meeting for presentations by the short listed companies bidding on the 5th and Eye parcel will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at The Carnegie Library at 801 K Street (in Mount Vernon Square).
