First things first: Ohhhh, we saw “Apple – DC” and just about had a heart attack. But, no, it is only for a corporate office in Penn Quarter (901 15th). Don’t get too depressed because the Penn Quarter is getting a Bruegger’s bagel shop (505 9th)! Also, Rocket Bar (714 7th) will be expanding. We think they’ll expand upwards since the office space above it is currently vacant.

Use 911 For Police Non-Emergencies Now (Public Service Announcement)
As of yesterday, the DC Office of Unified Communications moved police non-emergency calls from 311 to 911. Many were caught off-guard and this blogger still can’t find an official press release on a DC.gov website.
This was announced on the 1st District MPD listserv:

Shakespeare Theater’s Harman Center Offers Free Lunch-Hour Performances!

From the Shakespeare Theater’s website: Happenings at the Harman brings the community up close and personal with the performers and performances at the Harman Center for the Arts as well as throughout the metro-D.C. community. Held on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., these free conversations and performances feature some of the leading artists and thinkers of the day as they explore the synergy between the performances on our city’s stages and the events that shape our community and world. Box lunches are available for purchase for $10 if desired; reservations are requested but not required.

You are invited to enjoy a continental breakfast between 8:30 and 9:00. At 9:00, following announcements, Susan Spain, the National Park Service’s Project Executive for The National Mall Plan, will give us an update of their work on both The National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue including suggestions they have received and a range of alternatives they are considering for upgrading both Pennsylvania Avenue and the National Mall.
