We’ve spoken to everyone who will talk to us at the Waffle Shop and the Lincoln House Restaurant Bar & Deli, they’ve all confirmed that the Waffle Shop is moving to the Lincoln House. The details they provided include:
- The menu & staff will move to the Lincoln House Restaurant (ground floor space). No word on the basement bar/restaurant of the Lincoln House.
- Move should happen in the very near future, as early as next week.
- Name may eventually change to the Lincoln House Waffle Shop.
- No word on what will happen to the counters or sign from the Waffle Shop.
This blogger couldn’t be happier to hear that the greatest greasy breakfast in PQ will live on past the demo of the Waffle Shop’s current location.

Night Lights Gain Popularity In Penn Quarter (7th & H St NW)
Doug Jemal was first to install high-wattage night lights on top of his 7th Street Historic Row buildings. This brought near-daylight ambiance to the sidewalk outside of the restaurants between G & H St NW and made the area safer.
Just in the last week, Yeni Wong followed suit and installed the same kind of high-wattage lights above her buildings on the 800 block of 7th St NW and 700 block of H St NW (the buildings surrounding the Starbucks).
We must say that we welcome the new lighting. This blogger only wishes that every building in PQ would illuminate their sidewalk at night and it also shows how outdated “normal” sidewalk lights have become.
Learn To Write Creatively At The MLK (9th and G St NW)
Thursdays until November 8, Mary Tabor is teaching a writing class for free at the Martin Luther King Library. Although the class started last week, new participants are welcome to come and learn how to get their creative writing abilities flowing and their ideas from their head onto paper. The next class is Thursday, September 27 and all classes are free.
