The Smithsonian American Art Museum (8th & F St NW) is hosting its annual benefit party called ARTrageous!
The party will take place on Tuesday, December 5 from 7:30 – 10:30pm. Tickets are $100.

New Office Building Approved 700 6th St NW! (And Other Building Permits)
As the 777 6th St office building nears completion (that was fast!), the empty lot almost directly across the street (at 700 6th St NW) gains approval for another 12 story office building. Here is the official website for 700 6th St NW. It’s being built by Akridge.
The building will feature one of the city’s first green roofs funded by CBF grants – it’ll be 10,000-sq-ft. According to the official website, the building’s 1st floor can be retail or office.
The Downtown DC construction update pdf tells us that the 3 level garage will hold 152 parking spaces.

Future Of MLK Library Uncertain
DCist has a nice wrap-up of the council decision (rather, indecision) on the future of the MLK Library at the old convention center site (at 9th and H St NW).

Update: Anon correctly points out that the MLK Library plans are still up in the air, but the old convention center plans have been approved.
North Neighbors Making Progress
This is the CityVista construction site to the north of our neighborhood. The skeleton of The L is fully constructed and many of the windows are in place. There are two condo buildings (The L and The K) and one apartment building (The V) in the project. For us Penn Quarter residents, we’ll have to look to the “urban lifestyle” Safeway as the closest green grocer which will locate at the corner of 5th and K.
