Penn Quarter Restaurant Recipe of the Week – We’re highlighting Matchbox’s (713 H St NW) delicious Fire & Smoke Pizza which you can also make in the comfort of your own home. [Washingtonian Recipe Sleuth]
Penn Quarter – Ford’s Theatre started its run of Hello Dolly which runs through May 18. [Ford’s Theatre]
Chinatown – We enjoy Graffiato’s Industry Takeover Night (707 6th St NW) but a few neighbors sure didn’t like the noise that got out of hand the evening of March 4 and early morning of March 5. The city encourages people to live downtown and businesses have to remember that some of their best customers live next door. [DCist] & [Graffito – Industry Takeover Night web page]
Downtown – The city along with a few partners issues an RFP to make over the 4.8 acre Franklin Park between 13th and 14th Streets and H and I Streets NW. This park has a nice fountain but frequently goes underused as public green space. [WTOP] & [DCist]
Penn Quarter – Elisir reopens as Osteria Elisir with a more casual Italian dining concept at 427 11th St NW. [Osteria Elisir Facebook page] & [Osteria Elisir menu page] & [Eater DC]
Capitol Hill to Chinatown – The circus is in town which means the Pachyderm Parade is on this week’s calendar. Tomorrow the elephants will make their way through the city streets beginning at 8 pm tomorrow night starting at New Jersey Ave and I St SE (approximately) and ending at the Verizon Center. [DC Pachyderm Parade Facebook page] & [Parade route map]
Penn Quarter – The Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association meeting is on Wednesday, March 20 at the First Congregational Church (10th and G St NW) and will feature At-Large candidates running for the DC City Council in the April 23 Special Election. [PQ Living]
Chinatown – Walgreens at 7th and H Streets NW opens on Thursday, March 21. [PQ Living]
Downtown – The former Againn gastropub (1099 New York Ave NW) will turn into a Fabio Trabocchi restaurant called Casa Luca. Trabocchi opened Fiola in Penn Quarter in the spring of 2011 and is also opening a seafood spot in Georgetown. [WaPo]
Penn Quarter Crib of the Week – Our Crib of the Week is in a building not known to many outside Penn Quarter. It’s a 2 bedroom with den, 2 bathroom penthouse unit in the Residences at Historic Row (515 9th St NW); a few interior photos give you a feel for this unit. A handful of residences can be found in this building above the Spy Museum on 9th St NW and this is one of them. [515 9th St NW – Apt 5E]
