Nope. We doubt we’ll get any more info. But, one thing that annoyed us was that they were a “cash only” operation.
What annoyed me is they were not available for residents, only open during office hours. If they want a permit to serve food in our neighborhood, I think they should be required to accomodate residents. That is the point of a mixed-use neigborhood. Do others agree?
Just had some of that Cowgirl Creamery Cheese with some of their sea salt and olive oil crackers and a Spanish red….AMAZING. I am so happy to welcome them to the neighborhood. Woo hoo!
I visited Cowgirl Creamery and purchased some feta cheese earlier today. It is a great store and I think it will be a great addition to the neighborhood. Just wanted to give you an update.
One more rumor: Heard from the folks at Vida Fitness that Bodysmith is not going to open in Terrel Place. Apparently, they realized the competition that they were facing. The desk and some stuff has already been moved from the storefront.
I guess that’s why I never found the to-go window open. I do agree that places should cater to residents as well as office workers, but it’s really their choice. Apparently Zengo found out that office workers alone aren’t profitable, so hopefully others take notice.
In happier news, Cowgirl Creamery is divine. They’re mostly cheese and bread right now, with the charcuterie coming in a couple weeks and wine in august or september.
Thanks for the reports on Cowgirl Creamery!
How big is that space in Terrell Place? Big enough for a grocery store?
That’s too bad about BodySmith, although not that surprising given the owner’s comments in a past WaBizJo article. According the the article, the BodySmith space was 20K sq ft–almost as big as the Balducci’s space–but spread over three floors. Alas…
Thought I’d pass on a rumor, maybe someone knows how to solve this? The takeout window at Zengos is some sort of requirement for their lease or for some sort of District financing or as some part of plan. By not having the takeout, they are actually in violation of something, and they figure no one will ever enforce this. Again, this is a rumor, and I wonder if it is true?
Interesting comment! This could be true, but there is most likely an “out” for a contractual requirement.
For example, there is a contractual requirement for a grocery store to open at the Jefferson space. However, that requirement has an expiration date: the end of this year.
In that case, it may not matter because there is enough demand and interest for a grocery store to open!
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Any information on why Zengo’s to- go window closed?
