The National Park Service website states that Ford’s Theatre is going to undergo “life-safety and accessibility improvements” in 2007, to be completed by August 2008 to coincide with the Presidential Gala at Ford’s Theatre scheduled for September 2008.

Wirefly National Marathon On Saturday
This Saturday the Wirefly National Marathon takes place. The course will take racers along the southern boundary of the Penn Quarter at mile number 3 with a stretch along Constitution Avenue between 4th and 12th Streets. With a 7 am start, it shouldn’t disrupt too much traffic but remember that the race goes all over DC (pdf) and the marathon will be ongoing for six hours. Plan your errands accordingly !

Newseum Apartments Help Drive Up Penn Quarter Rents?
Many are interested in how much the apartment units in the Newseum will fetch on the rental market. Well, the folks at DCMUD have the answer: Studios are expected to start at $1,600/month, with one bedrooms beginning at $2,300/month and two bedrooms at $3,500/month.
It should be interesting to see how this new benchmark will affect listings for other Penn Quarter buildings.
